Does the practice of saying affirmations really work?
We've all been exposed to the philosophy of using affirmations as part of our personal growth. But have you ever tried them? Most people who have tried using affirmations have done so with mixed results. Some people have trouble with affirmations because affirmations sometimes “feel like a lie”.
And frankly, a lot of people feel that they just don't work at all. But using affirmations is one of those teachings that just doesn't seem to go away. A lot of people still believe in them as I do and many respected speakers still preach the use of them.
But there are still some big questions about using affirmations:
1. If they do work, why don't they work all the time?
2. Is there a proper way to “say” them?
3. How long do I have to wait for what I'm affirming to show up ?
Well, I want to clear away some of the fog about using affirmations.
WHAT'S SO GREAT ABOUT AFFIRMATIONS?
Affirmations can be used to destroy bad habits and create good ones.
Affirmations can help you get clear and stay focused.
Affirmations can help you speed up the progress on your goals.
Affirmations keep you balanced and calm.
Affirmations can help you live the life you want.
Affirmations can change your life.
The key, is that you really need to know how to use them. It is important to first understand what affirmations are really all about. In a nutshell, affirmations are everything you think, say, believe and feel. So if you've ever recited affirmations that just didn't happen in your life, it's because there is some conflict between what you are saying and who you are.
Once you come to an understanding of what affirmations are, you need to know how they work. I don't have enough room in this article to explain it all, but understand that our affirmations directly relate to our energy. Our energy directly relates to the Universe. The Universe relates back to us. So in other words, our affirmations work, based on, (again), who we are.
Are you starting to notice a common thread? You see, the affirmations really have no power in the Universal scheme of things, it is you that has all the power. Affirmations are simply a tool; a tool for influencing you. And you - by way of your energy (or vibrations) and your actions, influence the Universal flow as it relates to your life.
SO WHAT DO AFFIRMATIONS ACTUALLY DO FOR YOU?
Affirmations are truly the key to getting yourself in line with what you want, need and desire in life. You see, affirmations, when used properly, change the way you think. They change the way you look at things; at yourself, your problems, your hopes and dreams. Once you change the way you think, feel and believe - you can then take the appropriate action to manifest your desires.
BUT THERE IS A FLIPSIDE
Affirmations operate in our lives whether we use them or not. If left unchecked, our affirmations are whatever feelings and thoughts are going on inside us. Those feelings and thoughts become our reality. That explains why we wind up with things in our lives that we don't want, and don't always get the things we do want. So whether you believe in the power of affirmations or not - they are already operating in your life. That's why it is wise to learn to understand and use them properly.
Now, I'm going to help you understand some very important principles about affirmations, so that you can start using them effectively today.
SIX KEY PRINCIPLES FOR USING AFFIRMATIONS EFFECTIVLY
1. Before using affirmations, take time to study how and why they work. Once you come to an understanding of them, your affirmations will become much more effective.
2. Using affirmations out of a book are fine, but the most effective ones are the ones you write yourself. When you write your own affirmations - they are you, from your heart and soul. Even if you see a really great affirmations in a book, change it somewhat so that it becomes yours.
3. Write your affirmations so that they are stated in a positive, powerful way.
4. Have a special time and place for your affirmations. Recite them with energy and conviction. Recite them on a regular basis - at least twice a day. And if an affirmation feels stale - tweak it, change it, or trash it and start over.
5. Develop a strong faith to support your affirmations. Without a strong faith, your affirmations have little chance of success.
6. Live your affirmations. Remember when I said that “you are your affirmations”? You have to embody them - live them. And your affirmations have to reflect who you are, how you feel and what you believe.
Affirmations are extremely powerful yet, they are one of the most overlooked techniques for personal growth. This is because most people do not understand how they work. Do yourself one of the biggest favors of your life, learn about the power of affirmations, and how to use them properly. Put these principles to work in your life. If you do, you will see your life change in ways that will pleasantly suprise and delight you.

Mind Change
I have come in contact with a great number of people who have exhibited a need for serious change in their lives. The problem is people have a hard time accepting the fact that mind change must come first. Mind change first life change follows.
The need for change now is greater than ever, couple that need with the fact that we are evolving as a human race to a much higher level of spiritual enlightenment and you should come to the understanding that now is the perfect time for you to do what you have been promising yourself you would do for soooo long…change your life.
Can you change everything? Absolutely EveryMonth A Million
People try to achieve happiness in reverse, they desire to be happy, and resolve to be once all their problems are solved. We would all be happy once our problems are solved, the problem is this approach actually means we are content to relinquish control and let life run us, and it will.
Mind change comes first, life change follows. In order to begin the process of changing our circumstance we have to change our way of thinking first, that’s the hard part. It’s hard to feel good when gloom and doom is everywhere, but it can be done. I’ve done it, and so have many others.
It actually doesn’t start with the decision to change anything. It starts with your ability to accept some things that may be difficult at first.
In order to make it simple let me say it like this. Newton was wrong; the world does not function as a giant clock, it is not a mechanism or mechanical by any means of the word, and he’s been wrong for over 200 years.
Here’s where you may have difficulty, here are the basic principal beliefs you need to accept in order to begin the mind change process.
Do you believe that you are solely responsible for everything that is part of your current circumstance?
That’s right, the good the bad and the ugly… you asked for it all.
Do you believe that by changing your thinking you can change your entire circumstance? That you can have more of what you want? Anything you want?
You can and you will
It’s important that I lay the ground work for you to be able to begin the mind change process, I want to give you a basic understanding, without going too far into the fascinating world of quantum Physics, in order for you to come to terms with the principle behind the necessity for you to change your thinking, in order to affectively change your circumstance.
We are in the midst of one of the most significant paradigm shifts mankind has ever encountered. We are seeing the end of Newton’s mechanical world view, which is being replaced by a new one that tells us we are nothing more than interconnected consciousness, and that matter is nothing more than a form of energy.
Newton’s Mechanical Clockwork
For more than two hundred years Newton’s ideas dictated our world view. Newton declared that everything operates mechanically and can be predicted like clockwork. Science in Newton’s view, being nothing more than the act of observing, meant that this world view was easily perpetuated by independent observers all over the world.
In the late 19th century, science entered into the era of subatomic physics, which changed everything. Scientists discovered that the so-called ‘subatomic particles’ were not particles at all. They behaved like particles when measured but the traveled like waves. Quantum theory has changed everything, because what was once a mechanical, external Universe has now become a web of intelligence. Science finally admits that the simple act of observing changes the result of any experiment and by extension, that the observer and the observed are not separate.
What follows from this new understanding is a completely different way of dealing with the world we perceive. Our old model of an objective world view has to be replaced with a new model that states everything is subjective, the observer influencing the observed.
The Quantum Paradox – The Wave-Particle Duality
Wave-Particle Duality is perhaps the most notable concept of the quantum world; and by extension, it is also the philosophical basis of modern thought. It is the defining characteristic of elementary physical entities, such as electrons, protons, neutrons, atoms, and molecules, which exist on the one hand in states which behave like waves when they are not being observed, and on the other hand behave like particles when observed.
The key is in the observation. In its wave-like state, the physical structure is typically extended in space, but then contracts abruptly to localized events or point- like particles when an observation is being made.
When unobserved, physical quantum systems behave in wave-like states and only represent tendencies or probabilities of actual events. On the other hand, when observation is made, the wave-like state changes abruptly, discontinuously, and unpredictably, in a quantum leap.
At the macro level, the process is seemingly ruled by chance alone, and thus there is the potential for a true choice to be made.
Perception and Reality from a Quantum Viewpoint
All that we see, hear, taste, touch, smell and feel has been created from the data received by our sensory organs. All we ever know of the world around us are the mental constructions we assemble from that data.
However real and external they may seem, these constructions are all phenomena within the mind. This simple fact is very hard to grasp; it goes against all our experience. If there is anything about which we feel certain, it is that the world we experience is real.
We can see, touch and hear it. It seems undeniable that out there, around us, independent and apart from us, exists as a physical world, utterly real, solid and tangible. But the world of our experience is no more Out there than are our dreams. When we dream, we create a reality in which events happen around us, and in which we perceive other people as individuals separate from us. In the dream it all seems very real. But when we awaken we realize that everything in the dream was actually a creation of our own mind.
The same process of reality-generation occurs in waking consciousness. The difference is that Now the reality that is created is based on sensory data, and bears a closer relationship to what is taking place in the real world. Nevertheless, however real it may seem, it is not actually, the real world. It is still an image of that World created in the mind.
Enter the Age of Conscious Science
The current meta-paradigm of the nature of reality assumes that space, time, and matter constitute the basic framework of reality and consciousness somehow arises from this reality. The truth, it now appears, is the very opposite. As far as the reality we experience is concerned-and this, remember, is the only reality we ever know-consciousness is primary. Time, space, and matter are secondary; they are aspects of an image of reality manifesting in the mind. They exist within the consciousness; not the other way around. If we consider the reality we experience, then we have to accept the final analysis, the new physicists are correct.
Consciousness is the essence of everything – everything in the known universe.
It is the medium from which every aspect of our experience manifests. Every form and quality we ever experience in the world is a construction within the consciousness.
The hard part is over. We never have to hear that again. The truth is you cannot be all consumed with the teaching, when all you really need is a basic understanding; the rest is in the technique. Manifesting change in your life is easy once you break down the barriers in your belief system which have resulted in your need to change in the first place.
The need for change now is greater than ever, couple that need with the fact that we are evolving as a human race to a much higher level of spiritual enlightenment and you should come to the understanding that now is the perfect time for you to do what you have been promising yourself you would do for soooo long…change your life.

Mastering Your Mind Power
You have decided to make some positive changes in your life to master your mind power with the intention of producing more outcomes that are in alignment with what you desire. You have identified things, conditions, circumstances, and people you no longer want in your life.
You have also identified what things, conditions, circumstances, and people you desire to have in your life, as they are the exact opposite of what you DO NOT WANT. In addition, you have agreed that affirmations are a very powerful (FREE) tool available to you to instill new thoughts, images and beliefs in your mind so you have decided to begin a regimen using them.
Your DO WANT list is probably fairly long. I would strongly urge you to prioritize it and choose the top three items from your newly prioritized list with which to begin. Most credible teachers and authors recommend repeating your affirmations at least three times a day, upon arising, at midday and just before retiring. I concur and I would strongly suggest your repeating them more often if possible.
The question of how many repetitions should be in each set and how does one keep count of them often arises. I have yet to find anyone who offers a definitive, magical number of repetitions. You must choose that number for yourself. You are working with your own mind and it might take a little while to come up with a comfortable number. I personally chose to do 25 repetitions per set.
To keep count, I constructed a rosary-like, bead bracelet. I went to the notion section of a discount store, picked up some inexpensive beads, and a roll of stretch string. I put 25 beads on a section of string, tied a stop-knot at the end of it so as to leave about an inch of slide-space.
I would begin on either side of the slide-space and slide one bead forward as I completed an affirmation. The knot in the string indicated when I reached the 25th bead so I did not have focus on keeping count. The bracelet turned out to be a perfect fit for my wrist so I wore it 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
I can promise you that early on in you affirmation regimen, tail enders will make their appearance. A tail ender, is a term for the negative counter (or a reversal) to your affirmation, and it is one of the most effective tools used by your self image in its attempt to keep you in your DO NOT WANT world and to keep itself in control of your life.
If a tail ender is not addressed immediately, it gradually re-establishes itself as your TRUE affirmation. Thus you are stopped dead in your tracks on your new, life-changing journey. Like a powerful magnet, it will pull you back into the waiting arms of the old self image and your old consistent thoughts.
It is my belief, evidenced by my past experiences, that the lack of knowledge about tail enders and the absence of effective strategies and tools to counter them push most people off their positive, life-changing course and back into their DO NOT WANT world comfort zone soon after even the most promising beginnings.
Overcoming Fear
Most of the fears we experience are irrational. In other words, there is no valid reason that we should be influenced by them because they are not based on any real, physical event, person, or thing. The effect on the vast majority of people in our society, however, is poverty-mindedness and inability to enjoy the wealth that is all around. Fear is the single greatest reason that you and millions of other people have not and are not now living more of the lives you desire.
Irrational fear has become the filters through which your self image directs nearly every decision you make, especially if the decision involves finances. Irrational fear is a major factor that keeps 95% of the population either in poverty or struggling to live on paycheck to paycheck jobs. Since, in a the state of fear, calm, rational thinking is literally pushed aside, any decision you make in this state is generally not going to be in your best interest.
Obviously, in order for you to succeed at mastering your mind power and having more of the life you desire, some of your fears must be faced and overcome. Please do not despair. The overcoming of fear is not as difficult as it might sound, and I am not suggesting that you overcome all of your fears. Remember, some of them may be so deep seated that the services of a qualified, professional therapist might be required.
It is critical that you identify the fear or fears standing between you and your desires. Here is a process that worked for me. I began to consciously observe my reactions and feelings whenever (for example) money issues came up in conversations with my wife or other members of my family.
If something as simple as an extended vacation came up, I would begin to sense those fear feelings in the pit of my stomach that we would need the money that we would spend on the vacation for something more pressing, and I would produce various reasons why an extended vacation was not a good idea. If something as serious as starting a business or investing in capital properties entered our conversation, the fear of the possible loss of our hard-earned money would sometimes become so acute that I would have trouble sleeping at night.
One day it dawned upon me that I had learned from my studies that I needed to focus on my desires more than I focused on fear. Once I began to consistently imagine the joy of seeing and visiting with my family, old friends, and new places, the fear of needing the money for something more pressing faded more and more. There really was nothing more pressing.
As for starting a business, I reasoned that by choosing Every Month A Million I would be able to have all my desires, and dreams. In other words, the imagined gain and joy of achieving my desires became greater than the imagined fear.
You too must go through a process of your choosing to overcome the fear within you. Life on this planet is too short to give it over to fears, most of which do not exist in reality and never will. One of the saddest commentaries on human history is the abundant availability of great wealth but fear all too often succeeds in blinding us to the possibility of having that wealth.
However, this I know for sure. You can claim or re-claim control of your own mind power. You are the most miraculous of all living beings on earth. You are the owner of a mind that is so stupendous, that as you truly begin mastering your mind power and consciously using it, there is no dream that you can dream that you cannot achieve.
You have also identified what things, conditions, circumstances, and people you desire to have in your life, as they are the exact opposite of what you DO NOT WANT. The Art Of Allowing
The art of allowing
I read a quote last night that I wanted to share."A great attitude does much more than turn on the lights in our worlds; it seems to magically connect us to all sorts of serendipitous opportunities that were somehow absent before we changed."- Earl NightingaleIf you wanted to date this quote you would have to go way back, back beyond the secret to a time when the laws of quantum Physics we just coming into hard core play.To break this down we have to dissect the quote in to smaller groups of words,"A great attitude does much more than turn on the lights in our worlds; it seems to magically connect us to all sorts of serendipitous opportunities that were somehow absent before we changed."- Earl NightingaleStart with a great attitude, we know that our attitude stems from our convictions or beliefs; if you believe something as you should it becomes impossible to have a bad attitude towards that belief, even when you believe something negative your attitude is not bad, it becomes one of acceptance, an attitude of accepting things for what they are.By having a great attitude you are definitely exhibiting a positive belief then according to the quote it seems to magically connect us…to all sorts of serendipitous opportunities that were somehow absent before we changedSerendipitous means wondrous, inspired, or fortuitous and all of these things were absent before we changed. So basically what is being said here is that with attitude, which is positive thinking, we seem to become magically connected to all sorts of serendipitous, which are wondrous, Inspired fortuitous opportunities, and this all occurred as a result of a change in our thinking. Now when you hear the quote, "A great attitude does much more than turn on the lights in our worlds; it seems to magically connect us to all sorts of serendipitous opportunities that were somehow absent before we changed." You cannot over look the validation in this message; this message confirms that by changing us we magically open up a world of infinite possibilitiesLast night I was on the phone with my Brother for two hours, and during our conversation he said you are amazing, the truth is we are all amazing, every one of us. Where the problem comes in is that many people have an inability to accept the fact that they are amazing. I told him, all I do, all I ever do is what I’m supposed to do.What he actually did was call my attention to the fact that although we are all amazing beings, only a select few are actually living an amazing life, only a few are doing what they are supposed to do. The reason why we get recognized for being amazing is because our cause and our actions stand out in a crowd. The True believers are the minority. Which is the opposite of how it should be.When it comes to the Law of Attraction, there is nothing to master, and nothing to learn, all you are doing is observing what has existed since the beginning of time, the way our Universe yields results to us based on our beliefs and convictions. It has always worked in your life, for the good or for the bad, based on your true belief, and the depth or strength of that belief. However the Law of allowing is something that must be learned, the reason true believers stand out in a crowd as being amazing is because they have mastered the art of allowing, it is this group of people that know how to live and create with the right attitude, an attitude becomes a way of life, and your attitude stems from your belief, in order to allow good, you have to do good, feel good and be good, you have to have your brothers back, give when you can give, in order to get when you can get. When we have mastered the art of allowing, so how do we know when we have mastered the art of allowing? It’s simple, when you can give your most prized possession to your worst enemy, or the person who would for all practical purposes deserve it least, you are the master of allowing, then and only then can any and all things come to you. As I said before this doesn’t mean you have to give away your most prized possession what it simply means is you have to exist knowing you could do it.If we hold our material possessions in such a high regard that we can’t possibly part with them, we are sending out a very definite message that we want to keep exactly what we have, we want nothing more, and we just want to keep things exactly as we are. That message is in direct conflict with the art of allowing, you see in our world we have to give to get, the only thing is we are not talking about physicality, we are talking about attitude, or belief, you don’t have to give away your most prized possession but the ability to give it away the belief that you can must become the core of what you belief, in order to affectively create, you must be able to affectively give, in your mind while you must be thankful and grateful for that which you have you must also maintain a separation from those things, disconnecting emotionally from your most prized possessions allows you to receive more, cling to what you have, and it will always be what you have. One exercise to test where you are emotionally in your ability to allow is simple it sounds simple but having done it; especially in this day and age it can be very challenging for some. You do not have to do this, this is simply evaluating your ability to be open to allowing. We are not talking about what you actually do we are talking about what you can do, and affirming that you are positioned with an attitude or belief that will allow you to receive.Put an amount of money, cash in an unmarked envelope, no identification what so ever, and send it to anyone you know that might need it. You do not have to be literally aware of their need, for instance if you know someone perhaps that just lost their job, and has a Family that would be an ideal candidate; you must be able to look past your personal opinion of this person, in other words if you know two people who have equal need, or you believe to have need, and you like one more than the other, or you feel one to be more deserving to further test your abilities you would send to the person whom you liked least, this is a real test. You don’t have to even do it, all you have to do is to know that you can. When you start thinking about doing this you may begin to feel uncomfortable, I never said how much money so it is not that which is causing discomfort, what is making you uncomfortable more often than not is the idea that you are doing something good or amazing and you are doing it without the ability to be recognized, that the physical act of doing this would not be known as an action that you took….however when your beliefs are as they should be, you will know without a doubt that you are being recognized by the only force that matters in your life, and that is the all knowing world around you that responds serendipitously to your attitude, your beliefs, and your actions. The amazing thing is it responds exactly the same whether you do this or not, it will respond exactly the same to your belief or ability to give, as it does the actual action of giving. And that is precisely why "A great attitude does much more than turn on the lights in our worlds; it seems to magically connect us to all sorts of serendipitous opportunities that were somehow absent before we changed."- Earl Nightingale
